O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
May came home with a smooth round stone as small as a world and as large as alone. For whatever we lose (like a you or a me) it's always ourselves we find in the sea. ~ e.e. cummings
Wouldn't it be great to feel and touch sea glass such as this... Photo: pixdaus.com
If you want to be brave And reach for the top of the sky And the farthest point on the horizon Do you know who you'll meet there Great soldiers and seafarers Artists and dreamers Who need to be close, close to the light They need to be in danger of burning by fire And I, I want to get there I, I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun
Often I want to walk The safe side of the street And lull myself to sleep And dull my pain
But deep down inside I know I've got to learn from the greats Earn my right to be living Let my wings of desire Soar over the nightI need to let them say "She must have been mad" And I, I want to get there I, I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun
I've got to learn from the greats Earn my right to be living With every breath that I take Every heartbeat And I, I want to get there I, I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun
Come Out and Play is the theme for a program I am doing with a group to introduce them to Art Journaling. So, I took simple luggage tags and painted and collaged them and I wrote the top reasons for journaling. I want to share the reasons why I "journal": To elaborate on an inspiration To remember a quote/song To hold on to a special moment To solve a problem To record my dreams & wishes To remember how blessed I am To connect with my spirit To play! To leave a little bit of myself behind for my family.
"The birds they sang at the break of day Start again I heard them say Don't dwell on what has passed away or what has yet to be. Ah the wars they will be fought again The holy dove She will be caught again bought and sold and bought again the dove is never free.
Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That's how the light gets in...."

"Meditation is simply about being yourself and knowing about who that is. It is about coming to realize that you are on a path whether you like it or not, namely the path that is your life." ---Jon Kabat-Zinn
SAVORIES
First cup of coffee, the smell of a newly mowed lawn, the quiet of the morning, smell of freshly polished wood, hearing my son's tires as he pulls into the driveway, freshly laundered sheets, a chick flick, freshly popped popcorn, a good laugh, the first fire in the fireplace in autumn, the smell of new art supplies, hot shower on a cold day, the way new love feels, a good report from the dentist, a tax refund (what's that?), good Italian food, a bra that fits, anything that makes my son happy, when the bathroom scale goes...down, an old love, breakfast on my deck, music, shoes that fit AND look good, my faith, home improvements, time spent with any of my siblings, stars, homemade soup, a rainy day, special friends, CHOCOLATE, breast cancer survivors, smell of my suitcase after a beach vacation, a good book, freshly painted toenails, no traffic, decorating the Christmas tree, good deeds, the beauty of freshly fallen snow, jeans that fit....

Everyone Is A House
"Everyone is a house with four rooms: a Physical, a Mental, an Emotional and a Spiritual. Most of us live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person."
---Indian Proverb

SIMPLY BLUE
"Simply Blue" is the title of my blue art journal...my first journal. It started out as my summer- vacation -at -the- beach -fun- art -project but it became so much more. I "journaled" a page full of "blue" ideas and then chose the ones I wanted to illustrate....the "blues", feelin' blue, blue jeans, red, white & blue and on and on. I love the color blue! If you're having trouble getting started on your journal...choosing a "color theme" is a good place to start. You'd be amazed at all of the ideas you can come up with....yellow submarine, yellow banana, topaz yellow....etc., etc. Notice I didn't use red....I already have a whole list of "red" things I want to journal about!
